Hello /r/hackintosh!
I'm working with a friend of mine to build a hackintosh out of an old Aspire One A150. It's mostly just because it's fun, rather than trying to make it into a serious system, and thus I know it probably isn't the best choice of a base system, but it's what we have =D
And, actually it's working pretty well! It boots, video, sound, touchpad, etc... work well. We got a little wifi dongle that allows it to connect to our wifi network now (since the built-in card doesn't work) -- again, it's not perfect, but it's totally usable, and in some ways even works better than with various flavours of LINUX on it.
There is one huge problem, and that's when the power cable is disconnected and it switches over to battery...
Basically, the system downclocks the CPU to 50% and locks it there, which makes running even something like Chrome... well, more like an infant trying to crawl than running.
We've tried to search the Internet looking for a solution. Some setting in OS X (10.6.8) to change the scaling, or even some kernel extension/replacement that would allow us to say, yeah yeah, I know we're going to use the battery faster, but just let the CPU go to 100% even on battery, if it needs to
While we're continuing trying to look, I thought I'd turn to you, /r/hackintosh, to see if any of you have experienced this sort of issue, and if you have any advice on how to fix it.
Thank you very much!
