Hey guys,
I'm really looking for some advice on some of the parts that I'll be buying for my first hackintosh. I'm mainly going to get all of the parts in the guide that I've listed below.
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K
Motherboard: GA-Z87MX-D3H (Gigabyte Z87 LGA 1150 2 Way SLI mATX)
RAM: 16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 (Corsair Vengeance)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 Computer Case FD-CA-CORE-1000-USB3-BL
Power Supply: Corsair 500 Watt Modular
Storage: SATA 6Gb/s 120GB SSD and also possibly SATA 6Gb/s 1TB HDD
Wifi Card: Dual Band Wireless N900 PCI Express Adapter,2.4GHz 450Mbps/5Ghz 450Mbps
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760
I'm mostly going to be using this for gaming on the windows side and everything else on the mac side. So essentially just a good affordable first build is what I'm looking for. I'll probably buy a monitor separately.
I'm sure that these parts are all compatible as they were on a pre-build site, but I had some other questions I wanted to be sure of going forward:
1) I was wondering about the boot drive. I have an SSD down for now but I'm wondering if Dual Booting on an SSD is possible and if it is, is it a good idea? If not, what is the best way to approach the dual boot process?
2) I've talked to some friends and am a bit confused with the power supply I need. Is 500 Watts going to be enough power for this build?
3) Another question about storage. Is it recommended that I get the SSD drive for my games and put everything else on a 1 or 2 TB HDD? Is a bigger SSD a necessary key to running games? Or should I try something like intel's smart response and combine the SSD drive with a larger HDD?
4) Do I need an extra cooling fan? I've seen other builds that do, but I'm not sure if this is something I should also be considering.
Really excited about the build and plan on getting quite a few parts this next week! Any help and input is appreciated!
