I have a gigabyte-based hackintosh that has been working swimmingly since Mountain Lion. Today it decided to hang at boot. When I power it on, the spinny icon shows up in the upper left, and freezes after a single tick.

I tried to boot off of my USB installer. The Unibeast Yosemite logo appears, with options for both the USB drive and my boot drive, and immediately freezes. I did my last install from this drive, so I know the hardware config works with the installer. It's been rock solid since installing Yosemite last fall, so it's not a compatibility issue - despite how quickly it locks up.

I disconnected all of the devices - including all SATA drives. All I have attached is the USB keyboard, USB installer, and DVI monitor.

I booted a Linux-based memtest86 drive, and all 16GB and 4 cores check out.

I'm stumped. I've never seen a Hackintosh that would spontaneously stop working without a DIMM going bad.
