I'd never built a computer before and was stoked about how easy and how much fun it was. I'm a web developer and decided that as my macbook was dying it was time to build a machine to crush all of the adobe cs tasks I needed it for and futureproof a little bit. I used this forum quite a bit in my research so I thought I'd share my experience upon completion. If anybody has questions, please feel free to ask.

Since I was planning to include a graphics card from the getgo and not planning to overclock I went with the Xeon e3 1230 v3 rather than the i7 options. I read that they are pretty much the same processor except for integrated graphics and over-clocking.

I also wanted a fairly compact computer, just for the sake of aesthetics. I live and work in a small house and didn't want to take up any more space than absolutely necessary.

Here's the build i ended up going with. I had a couple of hard drives already available so I stuck them in there to use as a RAID setup. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

After a really easy setup and install using the tonymac guide, I did run into a couple problems with surprising solutions.

Mouse Lag/Jumping and Keyboard Freezing: Fixed by getting an extender for my logitech USB receiver to get it closer to the keyboard and mouse. I would never have guessed my problem was proximity until somebody pointed it out on one of the forums.

Could not log into App Store and iMessage: After reading all sorts of solutions to this problem I found the suprisingly simple, right one for me. I set my apple id password before the current password restrictions and just needed to reset my password to meet their criteria.

Here are a few photos of my competed build
