Hey all,

First time posting in this sub.

I recently bought the new Devil's Canyon CPU and a gigabyte z97 board along with it. Now, I own a rMBP and use OSX quite often as my workhorse PC; I have always been interested in building a Hackintosh.

Now that I've acquired nice parts to build something like a Hack Pro, what challenges will I face? I know that my board is probably not compatible, yet (or may never be fully optimal) AND using a Hackintosh as NOT my main boot, is it worth it?

I'm building this PC for gaming. I will optimize performance on this PC with overclocking and tweaking a bunch of BIOS settings, changing drivers, etc.

Now I hope I didn't offend anyone with this post; I would just like some insight if a Hackintosh project will work on a PC that isn't dedicated to fully supporting it and constantly changing settings.

If this doesn't work out, I eventually will settle down with a Hack Pro dedicated to a space in my home office. But for the time being, will this project succeed with my current plans? or will this have to wait until I build another PC?
