Hey everyone! I am considering building my first PC/Hackintosh. I have a pretty basic understanding of the components required, but don't quite have a grasp on setting realistic limits and hunting for good prices. I have a few coworkers that have built both PCs and Hackintoshes that are helping me out with my questions and potential build. This will primarily be a personal computer for gaming, but I am a motion graphics artist so running Adobe CC well is important as well, although I have access to a real beast at work that I could do anything really intensive on.
I have realized in looking around that RAM prices have gotten pretty high and there is no end in sight. I found this this deal through Slick Deals and with a credit card offered discount it would come out to $39.99. Looking around that seems like one of the better deals I have seen, especially if I make use of it twice and get 16gb for $80.
All that to ask: is this stuff compatible/a good brand/well-priced? Tonymacx86 only seems to list Crucial sticks, which are a bit pricey. It is my understanding that as long as I am getting 1600Mhz DDR3 240-Pin sticks and go with a Gigabyte motherboard I should be alright in terms of compatibility. I'd really appreciate any advice here. I'm working on putting together a build for around or under $750 and will probably check in with a full build before I make any decisions. Everyone here has seemed super helpful and I have already picked up a good deal in my short time reading the sub. Thanks so much!
