Hi all,
I know my way around computers, been building some, swapping parts, tinkering with servers.
My MBP is dying. I had a look at the newest Macs and found the cost to be prohibitive and upgrading hardware impossible. It feels like these machines have finally become 1500$ disposable computers.
I don't mind waiting for upgrades (I went from Snow Leopard to Mavericks about 6 months ago, just did the 10.9.3 update). How realistic would it be to use a Hackintosh as my main and sole computer?
From what I understand, if you want the latest update as soon as it's out then better go with a Mac but if you don't mind waiting then an upgrade path will come up eventually and you'll be just fine using a Hackintosh. Am I mistaken on that?
Once your Hackintosh is running and you don't update before there is a proven path to do so, can your Hckintosh still break and crap out for no reason?
For what it's worth, I intend on building a computer that uses only parts from the reference builds on tonyx86.
Thanks for answering my newbie questions…
