Hey, /r/hackintosh, hoping I could get some help here.
So I've successfully set up my first hackintosh finally, with no problems so far (after 2 or 3 botched installs) using myhacks and then multibeast afterwards and then finally chameleon wizard to apply a bootloader theme, which is what I was wondering about. Can I set up my system so I use the significantly faster SSD boot time to load chameleon and then boot into mac?
Here's my setup currently
1 TB HDD: OS X
2 TB HDD: Storage for windows
120 GB SSD: Windows (os and essential files)
Normally I boot into windows in under 10 seconds. If I set my 1 TB as my main drive I have to deal with a much slower boot time, even if I just want to boot into windows, but if I set my SSD as my main boot drive like I had it before then I have to sit and spam f12 to choose the boot option. I would prefer some way to have a decent boot time for windows (don't really care about boot time on mac) while still having a graphical menu to select which OS to boot.
I'm wondering if there's some way for me to move chameleon (or any bootloader really) onto the SSD, without formatting it, so my main boot drive can be the SSD, and I get a selection screen like I do when booting into OS X. Does chameleon have to reside on the same drive as the mac install? So far google-fu has only led me to easyBCD, which seems like it would work, but it's sort of ugly and I would prefer a nice UI like chameleon instead of a black/white text menu.
Besides that I'm wondering if there's some way to share storage between mac and windows using the 2 TB drive. If so do I need to reformat my 2TB drive? or is this just a permissions issue? I just want to be able to access my movies/music/documents on both windows and mac.
Anyways, thanks for the all great stuff on here, some of it helped a lot. I might do a post about my setup later.
