Hello. I am posting this here because my problem involves my Hackintosh, not just OSX. If this is the wrong place, please let me know.

So, I have a G4 that I acquired from a professor like 6 years ago. For various reasons that, to me, provide enough desire to make this worth it, I'm trying to connect the G4 to my Hackintosh over my router.

My mackintosh is, to my knowledge, fully functional. I've got iMessage and everything going, and this desktop has been working for a few months, now, without many hiccups.

I have successfully drawn files from one or the other early in my Hackintosh being setup. So, I know they have mounted drives and shared files in Finder, before, but right now, they both time out with the error stating "The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time.."

I've tried directly connecting to the server via command+k and using "afp://ip-address" and "afp://mac-name" with and without ".local" (I don't entirely understand Apple using .local on the computer name.)

What's frustrating is that they can both see each other in Finder. Under "Shared" they each list each other as they are turned off and on. Clicking "Connect As" produces the same result as stated above. It doesn't even bring up the login dialog.

They both have valid email addresses. I have enabled AppleTalk on the G4. I have tried disabling smb on the Hackintosh. I've tried a LOT of stuff to get this going. If you have suggestions of how to get them to connect to each other, please let me know. Maybe in those steps I've taken so far, I've missed something small but pivotal.

Thanks for your time.
