This build is in the very early planning stages, but if I choose to do it, my budget will be $3500-$4500. I want to keep use my 2005 PowerMac G5 Quad for general use (web/music/documents/email), but use this PC for games, encoding, and editing, because the 7800 GTX 512 in the Quad isn't acceptable and getting a new GPU to work would cost thousands. I want to keep it as Quad-like as possible, so I have some criteria, which are below. I have the peripherals I need and I will be hackintoshing this, so there is no need for an OS.
CPU architecture must be either X86 or PowerPC It must be dual-CPU. If X86, CPUs must be LGA2011 If PowerPC, the CPUs must be rPGA2048 The GPUs must be EVGA full GK110s (780 Ti or Titan Black) PSU must be 1000W or above, because I would like to have the same or more power as the Quad, even if it will be wasted Must have Case Labs case Must NOT have an SSD Must have a custom watercooling loop Must have 128GB or more of RAM, because I want the bragging rights I had in '05, when I had 16GB of DDR2 in the Quad
