Hey guys,

So I replaced my aging Mac Pro with a brand new Hack recently. Quick specs:

  • i7-4790K

  • Gigabyte Z97MX Gaming 5

  • EVGA GTX 780Ti Superclocked

I used Clover bootloader, trying to get as vanilla setup as possible. I've managed to get everything to work well, except for the goddamned power management — I have no sleep, no idea if C states are working, not sure if P states are correct, and what exactly are C's and P's for that matter.

Here's a probably important error message I'm getting during every boot:

getCPUIDinfo: this is an unknown CPU model 0x3a

-- Power management may be incomplete or unsupported.

After a billion hours spent on all hackintosh forums, I'm incredibly confused — it feels like every problem has as many solutions as there are instances of it. I would love if someone gave me an ELI5 on which power management solution is recommended, trusted and reliable in the long run. I know there may be no answers for my hardware (since it's so damn new), but I hope you can at least point me in the right direction, we figure it out and community benefits from this experiment.

Things that caught my attention recently are ssdtPRGen.sh and AppleIntelCPUPowerManagementInfo.kext (both from Piker), however I have no idea which to pick over the other and I'm sick of trial and error which results in hard KPs and OSX reinstalls.

I hope there is someone experienced with this subject, I would REALLY appreciate a reasonable rundown on how to go about this stuff.

TL;DR How to enable sleep on brand new hardware with Clover? Will give away sister in exchange for advice!!
