My current laptop (Asus K55VM) is running Windows 8.1 at the moment, and I'm trying to dual boot OS X Yosemite alongside it. It looks to be way easier installing Windows and OS X at the same time from the very start, unfortunately I scoffed at OS X until Yosemite was announced, and I don't want to reinstall Windows and lose my current Windows setup.
So I fortunately found a guide by someone with my laptop model on how to install Yosemite on this model and get it working, and also the guide on tonymacx86 on how to install Yosemite using Unibeast to make a bootable USB.
However I'm now stuck: The x86 guide shows that after I get my USB drive I should be good to go just installing it in my partition, but the K55VM guide adds extra steps to add in Clover. Neither of them account for dual booting, so I'm not sure what to make of both. AFAIK Clover is a bootloader, but doesn't Windows already have it's own bootloader I could use? But it seem Clover has something to do with kexts, and I'm not sure how important those are or whether that could work with the Windows 8 bootloader instead.
TL;DR - WTF is Clover?!
(I'm running Mavericks in a virtual machine on Windows, which is what I'm using to do all this. I have my partition set up, my bootable USB with Unibeast set up)
