Hey, I've been looking for a new computer recently. I'm a computer science student, but the only computer I own is my ~3 year old Macbook Pro. It's trackpad is now failing and a repair will take about 5 days, so I think this is a wakeup call that I can't keep going without a backup computer.
I've looked around and can't find a hackintosh that has quite what I'm looking for. I'm not really into gaming, and it seems like most PC builders suggest builds with that in mind. What I'm looking for is:
8GB RAM
Decent CPU. Overclockable would be a huge plus. Preferably four cores, but I've made due with a dual core all my life so it's not that big of an issue if it's not
Good cooling. I live in a small dorm where it's a humid 80F year round
I don't really have a budget for anything more than $500, seeing as how I just bought textbooks and will probably have to pay a few hundred for the trackpad repairs. Can anybody help me out?
