Hey all! I'm looking into upgrading my usb audio interface to a FireWire interface (moving from a Lexicon Alpha to most likely a Focusrite Pro 24). I have been using the Lexicon successfully for a while now, switching between my hackintosh recording rig at home and my mid 2007 black MacBook for on stage samples with my band.
It's important to me that the FireWire interface will be compatible with both computers. This is where I don't have much/any experience. All I know is that people are like "FireWire? Chipset chipset blah blah blah" and in not sure if it's referring to the FireWire ports themselves or something else on the board.
My hack's mobo is a Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H, which I believe has both FireWire 400 & 800 (I'm not at home right now) and I know the MacBook only has 400. Can anyone with more experience offer me any advice? Thanks!
