PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: eh, it was cheap and worked well with OS X
MOBO: gigabyte boards are the most compatible with OSX and since the mATX version was cheaper and since I'm not keeping this board it seemed alright.
RAM: not going to need more than 4 gigs for school, also it matches the mobo
Storage: fast boot and program load times. 120 gigs is fine (60 for OS X and 60 for windows) since i have external storage.
Case: looks sharp and was only 80$ when i bought it. I was going to go with the r5 but it 40$ more for things that weren't even worth the price increase of the r4.
PSU: cheapest one from a well reputable company. Optical drive: it reads and writes..... Peripherals: just a regular 60hz 1920x1080 monitor. wifi works fine. key board and mouse work and thats all that really matters.
OS: There free. windows 10 works fine and installed easy. OS X installed flawlessly with the guide on tonymacx86, intel hd4400 graphics didnt give me any problems except during the initial boot the screen would flicker and black lines will run across the screen for about 2 seconds. I also had to use a third party pkg installer to get the usb wifi adapter working, Ill try to get iMessage to function later. Other than that no more problems.
I was going to build a 2000$ gaming pc near july once i got all the money but i already had 600 and i was like f*ck it why not just build it now and stop using your parents computer and just add the rest of the parts later.
Im not keeping the mobo, cpu, wifi adapter, or keyboard and mouse. Thats all going to my brother once i get money for the replacements and he can build his own from there.
thx /r/hackintosh
