Hey all!
I've got a flawlessly working 10.10.2 Hackintosh/Win 8.1/Linux Mint 17.1 Triple boot Hackintosh. (I'll post specs and the guides I used at the bottom). Anyways, I followed u/jcuno's brilliant guide (below) without issue, and didn't do the DSDT & SSDT steps.
So, from the community, I'm wondering:
Any long term effects you think from not enabling the DSDT and SSDT? I'm not 100% positive what they do, but it looks like it controls power stepping and power management? So, when I'm in OS X I'm guessing it's running at full bore speed and not clocking up as needed? The machine is running nice and cool and I haven't modified the System Identifier because I know OS X does it's power management based off of the System Identifier, but if I should/need to add those files, that'd be fantastic to know. I was considering just adding them to my EFI folder, but I'm not sure where to download them from, at least from the guide. Basically, I don't do any heavy work in OS X, so I'm torn if I even need to bother.
Secondly, I'm torn on the necessity of TRIM. I'm booted into OS X primarily for everything but gaming, so it's mostly just Web Surfing/Email/Work Stuff and some super light audio manipulation. I read about how 10.10 doesn't support TRIM on non-Apple drives and how it's THE END OF THE WORLD - but is it worth the trouble? It sounds like I'd have to re-enable the driver with every OS X patch.
Thanks for any input. Here's my 100% amazingly functioning Hackintosh:
