So I got mavericks running in vmware and created a bootable yosemite drive following all of the instructions. After I turn off the virtual machine windows says it has to format the drive to use it. I didn't think that was too big of a deal and rebooted into bios. I set my flash drive as #1 on the boot list and Windows won't boot into it. It just boots into Windows. Additional info: 1. The usb drive in BIOS is listed under "usb-key" 2. I have a Lenovo all-in-one. Everything's compatible.
