Guide I've been following

System Spec

  • Mobo: Intel DX79SI
  • CPU: Intel 3930k
  • GPU: nVidia GTX 980 Ti

Issue Description

I'm not able to boot into the installer. I can get into clover just fine and edit boot flags. After about an hour or so of testing I've found the following:

  • Using default flags("dart=0") results in a Ø screen
  • using -v only hangs on a black screen.
  • nv_disabled=1 hangs on a black screen.
  • "dart=0 npci=0x3000 -v" will produce output onscreen. This is quickly dismissed and the computer restarts. I have been able to capture this output on crappy videos and pause at a point where the text is mostly visible. I'll add links to these videos below. I was seeing errors regarding cpu failures so I tried adding the cpus=1 flag. No success. I then tried to jump into the bios and set the number of cores to 1. At that point I was no longer able to produce output with the previously successful(ish) flags. Jumping up to 2 cores produced more -v output, and an even quicker reboot.

My bet right now is on something to do with the line "Unsynchronized TSU for cpu 1..."

Logs Sorry ahead of time of the wrong orientation videos, my monitors are in portrait for the time being and I was debugging this with my head tilted.

Other It started to get too late and I felt like I was hitting a wall, so I'm reaching out to reddit in an attempt to learn from others that may have run into these issues in the past. I appreciate any tips you guys may have.
