So my 10.11 build is going great, except for this thing which is very annoying.

For some reason when I enter OSX the CPU fan runs at high speed (around 1000 rpm according to HWMonitor) even when CPU temps are around 30ºC. I have a Gigabyte board and tried setting it to silent and manual which works for case fans but not for CPU fan.

I have a Scythe Koetsu which is quite silent, and even replaced the stock fan with a Noctua NF F12. In Windows I can barely hear the fans, but on OSX I have this annoying buzz which should not be there.

I've tried all fan control software on OSX and I can run the fan higher but not lower from this minimum around 1000 rpm. Same thing happens with both the Scythe fan and the Noctua which makes me think it's a software/kext problem of some sorts.

In the past I used to put my hacks in closets to avoid the noise thing, but this is not possible in my current house.

I'm not using any DSDT and installed 10.11.3 using Clover/Multibeast 8.

I also can't use those fan controllers on the front panel since my case doesn't have space on the front panel.

Has anyone struggled with this?

How have you solved it?
