PREREQUISITES:
USB drive, (any size any color)
OS X version capable of running the App Store and Disk Utility
Patience (the download takes a while)
Unibeast, if you're going down that route.
STEPS:
Download this .zip file
Extract, and open disk utility and pop in the USB
Partition the USB, 1 partition, named anything, GUID partition table, Mac OS X extended journaled
Drag MDE.dmg to disk utility and on your USB partition hit the restore tab
Restore MDE.dmg to the USB, and reboot
Hold the Option key and select the USB you named. Now in the bootloader options, select the drive your main OS X is installed on. Hit enter.
It will boot up like normal and if you go into About This Mac you'll see the system definition has changed to a Mac Pro 2008. Mac Pro 2008 is capable of downloading El Capitan. Here's my About This Mac.
You should find everything working, network etc. Go > App Store > Sidebar > El Capitan > Hit download & wait! That's it! You've now downloaded a legit copy of El Capitan! Don't try to install it, as that will shit everything up, just use Unibeast or whatever your cup of tea is.
