So I was in a local thrift store and saw a 2008 Mac Pro that seemed to be in good condition for $65. I bought it on the spot figuring at the very least I've always liked the case of this model. I took it home and realized the HDD was taken out, which I was expecting so I would need to grab a new one to boot it up.

I was wondering if this machine is able to be upgraded or even worth upgrading etc. I know the 2008 models are considered "vintage" now and are not supported. A friend at work was telling me that I could rebuild the entire thing inside the case but I've never built a computer before. I just was hoping the community could help point me in the right direction. I would mostly use it for Plex, some occasional games, and possibly some Adobe CS. If I can get this thing running that would be great as my MacBook Pro from college has an issue with random kernel panics and I may need to retire it soon. So my main question is: should I just try to get it working for low use/a media server or gut it and build a new one entirely. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
