Just got in the final piece, getting ready to go to town on this Lain-style. It's primarily a sound editing rig, with game dev in mind (for sound). Build is as follows:
Mobo—Gigabyte X79-UP4
CPU—Intel i7-4930K LGA 2011
RAM—Crucial Ballistix Sport 32GB
Graphics—EVGA GTX 970, 4GB
Drives—Samsung EVO 850 series:
500GB for Mac (10.8.5)
1TB for win 7 64
1TB for work
Power—Corsair AX 760
Cooling—Corsair H60
Case—Fractal Define R5
So, I pretty obviously went right off of the Tonymac socket build, if that wasn't painfully obvious. That in mind I think I'm mostly in a good place as far as compatibility goes.
I do need to figure out a Bios update on the x79, and I was wondering if someone could give me pointers on that, thigh I did find all the resources and a set of somewhat easy to follow instructions. It just seems like a fairly high-risk thing to screw up, so any advice would be appreciated. Also, let me know if there's any particular knowledge that a first timer like me would be good to have for the rest of the build process.
I'm guessing the way to start with the OS stuff is to get clover and OSX up and running first, then move on to the other drives, yeah?
Thanks in advance, you're wonderful people. Except you, Mark. You're an asshole.
