First things first, I have an AMD CPU and I know the text the sidebar says, but I don't think that it is relevant for this.

My graphics processor is an HD 7950 (from ASUS). I read that this card should work (nearly) out-of-the-box and was happy first, but then after installing (and getting everything (!) else to work) I realized it doesn't. The OS X I'm working with is 10.9.0 Mavericks.

I have to use GraphicsEnabler=No to boot, otherwise I can't get through the spinning Apple bootscreen. My card then gets recognized as "3MB video card" and the resolution and the acceleration is bad.

I read that Intel users (or users with integrated graphics) have to set the IGP as primary and boot with them, then there is no problem with the dedicated graphics card.

If it matters, the other parts of my computer:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T

Mobo: ASUS Crosshair IV Formula

RAM: 16 GB Corsair

GPU: ASUS HD 7950 DirectCU II TOP

OS: OS X 10.9.0 Mavericks 64-bit

TL DR: Is there any way to get my AMD graphics to work without integrated graphics?
