Hi all - never been here before, not even lurked. I've recently been asked to help build a hackintosh for a friend, and so I'm looking into this all kind of for the first time.
I'm looking for a workstation class graphics card - reading on tonymacx86 I found many threads saying that the FirePro W7000 (supposedly 290x chipset is the problem) is not currently supported in Maverick, most recently posted on June 12th.. anyone with experience know if that's still correct, or an ETA for when that support is expected? All I could find was 'early 2014' and we're definitely into the 'mids' now.
How about thunderbolt? I need to use Xeon so there don't appear to be any motherboard options. Has anyone ever gotten it set up through a PCIe slot before? I found a few products that can do it, although with no hackintosh experience I'm wary buying a product that I can't seem to find someone already using in one.
Anyways, I think the Thunderbolt problems alone convinced my friend to just buy a mac pro, but in case I end up needing to do this I'm still researching. Any advice would be appreciated.
