So I've made the decision to stick with a smaller form factor and just go with the wired internet (leaving a gfx card option open for a future bump-up-grade) on the box. The parts chosen were also parts I could source through the local Amazon.com (only agency that has a reasonable support/return policy if something doesn't work in this country!) or shops nearby. The MoBo is almost non-existent in shops here, however.
This is my first PC I've built since I was in High School back in the glory days of a really shitty version of Windows, as such, I was looking for as many hassle free pieces as possible to get me back into the groove of things.
I'll primarily be using it for some low level dev learning as well as some Windows-side gaming once a week when/if I have time. I'll also be managing the family photos/media stiff as always, hence the large-ish HDD (I do have back-ups, I'd just prefer to have less things pulling power whenever possible.
Nothing serious in either gaming or dev learning, unless you count campaign Starcraft 2/Dragon Age/Mass Effect as serious in the way of gaming.
Those all should keep me busy for a year until I move, hence the small form factor.
All that said, any advice on tweaks I should make to save cash/get a better investment/performance ratio from the machine?
