Sorry if this is not the correct way to do this, but I figured the other post might not get viewed again as I was only making edits. I've lurked Reddit for a few years, never really posted, but I've seen people "repost" like this when they do updates.

Any who, crazily enough, I found my old router is still being sold.

That's the right model, and the specs look right. Insane, they still sell it at such a high price. That's NewEgg, I guess. My firm ware is up to 1.02.8 on it, and I think I updated that like 2 years ago after not ever updating for the first many years.

Guess what? It works. G4 is wired into it, and my hackintosh is wirelessly connected. The only difference is that there's no password on the wireless, yet. I can't imagine that has much of an effect. I'm actually pulling the files I wanted to move to my G4 at a depressing 0.5-2.0 MBps. I think 54 Mbps should run closer to 6.5 MBps, but at least it is working.

As above, the Buffalo router that was routing everything is model WHR-HP-GN, but I didn't get the firmware version on it. This is the correct one, I believe, on NewEgg.

I think the settings are numerous and ridiculous on the Buffalo router, so maybe I missed something important. If anyone is using a Buffalo router, please let me know if you're successfully connecting between macs with it. = /

Side note that I remember, now: when wirelessly moving files from my girlfriend's MBP (2012-2013ish model) to my Hackintosh, they transferred at this speed when we tried this a month ago. So, I don't believe it's a limitation of the G4, not to mention I'm sure the G4 has 100 Mbps wired capabilities. I can't imagine Apple not putting that in this thing, though I haven't checked.

TL;DR: Buffalo WHR-HP-GN router did not work with my Macs as they were setup. Linksys WRT54G does work without changing any settings at all with the same physical setup, but even with G4 wired and the wireless card in the hackintosh being cable of much higher speeds, transfer is only going at 0.5-2.0 MBps.

Thanks again for everyone's time.
