So I've built a hackintosh, but it won't boot at all. I've done my research and tried many solutions, and have concluded that I need to update my BIOS in order to use the i7-4790 with my motherboard. To do this I plan to buy a cheap CPU (celeron G1840) and use it to then update the BIOS. My question is, how can I be reasonably sure that the celeron will work?Gigabyte says the celeron need BIOS version F5 while the i7 needed F6. Since there doesn't seem to be a way check which version my motherboard is sporting, is it safe to assume it's at least F5, as I bought it just recently?
