A month or so I built a hackitosh.
Xeon E3-1231 V3
ASRock H97M Pro4
8GB RAM
Kingston V300 60GB (boot)
Hitachi Ultrastar 1TB (data)
EVGA GeForce GTX 750
I'm very, very happy with this computer. It was a huge step up for me, coming from a 2008 MacBook.
However, it has always been very slow to shut down. After the usual shutdown sequence, the monitor goes into standby. No signal from the graphics card. However, the system takes over 30 seconds to power down. The same happens for rebooting. Windows shuts down in under 2 seconds.
My data drive was first formatted NTFS and I have since switched to ExFAT. I have not noticed any change in shutdown time.
I have searched for a solution, but most results describe a different problem. That is to say, their monitor is not in standby during the wait.
If anyone can point my in the right direction, I would be very happy! You would save me many minutes!
