I recently purchased a Dell u2515h and I want to push run it at it's native resolution of 1440p. I don't game or video edit so powering it with my 4670k i5's integrated GFX would be great. However, between the monitor, my CPU and the Gigabyte z87n-wifi board I'm using, the max resolution I'm able to get is 1200p over HDMI. I'm honestly not sure which component is the bottleneck here.
So I decided to purchase an entry level GPU that supports DisplayPort, the EVGA GTX 750se. I have it up and running now and displaying at 1440p thanks to the recently published web drivers... the only thing is the fan is constantly spinning at max RPM. I'm still trying to find out if there is a "fix" for this or if this is normal behavior for the 750 + hackintosh. I'll likely return it if I can't get the noise down somehow.
Assuming there is no fix, what's my next best option to get my display running at it's native resolution? I'm looking for the most economical (and quiet) solution here... again being able to use my integrated graphics would have be ideal.
