Everything works out of the box with only a few changes. The reason that this build is interesting is because of the motherboard. Specs:

  • Intel core i7 3770 3.4ghz

  • 16GB DDR3 1600mhz Corsair

  • EVGA GTX 670 2048MB

  • OCZ 60GB SSD

  • Gigabyte GA-Z77x-D3H

This motherboard sometimes has issues, especially with sound chipset support. However I was able to get a fully working install by booting via safe made to install, then booting again into safe mode, and installing both the 10.8.1 rollback in order to be able to boot normally, and the Voodoo HDA driver for sound, although I also removed AppleHDA.kext. For some reason this build only works with the Mac Pro 2008 settings and will kernel panic on boot with any other settings.

Benchmarks seem to be okay although a little disappointing, Cinebench gives the i7 at least 60 points below the same cpu on the Windows bench. And FPS on the OpenGL bench with 4.1 was 61fps, however this was barely higher than the 460 running 3.2 under windows. Results with Unigine Heaven and Valley yielded around 27fps and 38fps respectively on maxed out settings at 1080p. This is in parity or slightly worse than Linux performance but still only half that of Windows equivalent benches.

Overall these specs do seem to work so far under Mavericks. I am also using dual monitors.
