A little back story before I start. I'm a longtime Windows guy and I built my Windows rig back in '09. It's worked great but it's had a few issues over the years. Most recently being that half of my RAM died and it's going to cost me $180 to replace it. Not something I really envy doing on a 5 year old machine. I use my desktop a lot for setting up Virtual Networks of Windows and Linux machines. I'm often times running 3-8 of them at any given time, though I've been known to run up to 10. I do this for work, school and fun, so in building a new computer, this is important to me. I also do a little bit of gaming. Mostly in terms of Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, which both currently run great great on my machine.

A year ago, I switched over to a Macbook Air. I absolutely love it. I love the OS, I love the form factor, I love how well it integrates with my iPhone and iPad. I'm sold on the Mac. With that said, I'd like to upgrade my desktop to a Mac, but getting one that will do everything I want is way out of my budget of $500. So I decided, let's try a Hackintosh!

I tried to pick all parts from the Tonymacx86 buyers guide, but for my purposes, I couldn't do everything from there. So before you go down the list, there are a couple items I want to make note of. My goal being to repurpose parts from my current computer, there are several pieces below that I already own and would like to use:

*The Optical Drive

*The Seagate 2TB drive

*The Microsoft Natural Keyboard

*The Logitech Wireless mouse

I also have 4 wildcard items that make things more fun. I couldn't put them on Part Picker because they don't exist on there. I already have these and would like to take them from my existing windows build and put them on the new one.

Thermaltake Black SECC Japanese steel LANBOX Lite VF6000BNS Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133045

SAMSUNG B350 Series S24B350HL Monitors (2 in a dual screen setup) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001550

EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339

My main concerns are "Am I going to have overheating issues with this setup?" I had overheating issues with the Lanbox Lite on my AMD machine, which is how my current build got taken out of there, but I love the case and want to use it for this if possible. My other concern is, if I dual boot this with Windows, how well will OS-X play with an NTFS hard drive?

Thanks for all your help in advance, I really hope I can become a big part of the Hackintosh community here.
