I never actually reach the installer screen with this set up yet. I eventually get a grey screen, then stripes of grey/blue and white.
The board was updated to the F7 BIOS from F4.
I've set these settings from the defaults:
XHCI Hand-off: Enabled
EHCI Hand-off: Enabled
Intel Virtualization: Disabled
XHCI Mode: Auto (not Smart Auto)
VT-d: Disabled
SATA ports were by default set to AHCI.
and played around with every combination of:
-x,
npci=0x3000
npci=0x2000
PCIRootUID=0/1
GraphicsEnabler=No/Yes
The rest of the parts involved are:

i5-4570
1x4gb PC3-12800 (Corsair Vengence)
120gb Samsung 840 EVO
Using onboard video with a DVI to HDMI currently.
USB keyboard and mouse, nothing else attached or pluged in.
