Hello /r/hackintosh,
I was contemplating on purchasing that futuristic looking cylinder you guys have in your side bar. But then I stumbled upon this here subreddit and after some searching- quickly decided that a computer of sufficient power (and upgradeable, too!) could be built for less.
I'm looking to spend about 1500 on this build. I can break that number- but I want to go with something that will be very valuable per dollar spent.
Main Goals: 1) Very good OSX compatibility 2) Music Production with ease (lots of tracks, long hours, no crashing, VSTS, plugins ect.) I want to hit this with all I've got and have it move right along. [Logic X primarily, some protools] 3) Video editing. Multiple screens- HDMI output(s) would be great, Will be using Final Cut Pro. Using a TV for the main monitor, any other monitor suggestions for the side screen? [reference pics in the 'other notes' section] 4) LOTS of storage space. SSD for quick read/write, and possibly a raid setup for redundancy so I don't loose sensitive material. I'd like this storage hole to be quite deep. 5) The quieter, the better.. small footprint also a plus. Not looking for anything flashy. Black, small, quiet, tucked away.
6) Connections- kind of a hackintosh noob- is thunderbolt a possibility? USB 3.0? Gigabit internet? 7) I want this computer's core to survive for a while without becoming technologically obsolete.
What I'm looking for in the budget: Everything except peripherals; I'm going for a new build. Case, PSU, Mobo, CPU, GPU, RAM, HD(s), fan(s)?, WiFi Adapter
Other notes: I am in the US- pretty close to a Microcenter

Want to use Mavericks
Won't over clock unless it's necessary- I'd like to build this so it is not necessary.
What do you guys think about trying to use a Hackintosh in a pro studio? As far as compatibility with external hardware goes? (I use an RME UFX as AD/DA converter) Any other gripes?
Thanks so much for your help!!
