I'm a professional video editor looking to build a workstation outside of the office. Naturally, I'd like to save some money but build a powerful (upgradable) machine. I'm not currently working with 4K software, but with the new Final Cut X capabilities I'd like to future-proof my hardware a bit. Any advice, builds, or hardware recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I have little frame of reference for what it takes to create a hackintosh, but I'd like to keep my build in the $1000 range if it's at all possible.
