MSI P43T-C51 ALC885.kext #hackintosh

PLEASE READ:

• This kext is only for owners of MSI P43T-C51 motherboard, will not work with any other.


• This kext works in conjunction with stock AppleHDA.kext. If you have previously patched your AppleHDA.kext, you must restore it to the vanilla version. This kext does not work by itself.


• Do not use VoodooHDA with this kext.


• Requires HDEF layout-id 1 (0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00) set by DSDT or other means.


• Fully tested and works on OS X 10.8 and 10.9. Does not work on any other version.


• The following ports were tested and work properly: back green, back pink, back blue, front green, front pink

INSTRUCTIONS:

• Extract the kext into /System/Library/Extensions (it will not work from Extra or other folders)


• sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ALC885.kext


• sudo chmod -R 0755 /System/Library/Extensions/ALC885.kext


• sudo kextcache -system-caches


• sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel


• Edit your DSDT HDEF device to supply layout-id of 1


• Reboot

CONCLUSION:

• Now your Hac has full audio support just like a real Mac!! It should not break with OS updates unless Apple drastically changes the design of AppleHDA.kext. The last OS I tested it with at the time of this writing was 10.9.1.
