I have a HP Envy dv6 7214nr. I previously had a pavilion dv6 that I tried to get dual boot with mountain lion, but I ended up having to send it in for warranty and got the envy back instead. I could not get it to boot correctly, and i was wondering if I would have any luck with this laptop before I begin. I have searched one here and other sites, but I never found a definitive answer.
The specs of this computer are similar to the macbook pro, so i am hoping that it will work.
CPU: Intel Core i7-3630QM (2.4 Quad Core)
RAM: 8GB (DDR3 1333.0 MHz / PC3-10600)
GPU: GeForce GT 650M (same as the mbp but I heard it wont work?) Intel HD4000
Hard Drive: 750 GB (7200 rpm, hybrid drive, with Intel SATA RAID Controller)
Display: 15.6 1080p
WiFi card: Ralink RT3290, Realtek PCIe GBE family controller (wont work? use a usb dongle?)
Trackpad: Synaptics SMBus TouchPad
Sound: Beats (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC, heard there is a kext to make it work?)
USB: 3 3.0 1 2.0 (only the 2.0 will work?)
If anyone could provide some feedback on if this is feasible/ the best way to tackle this it would be greatly appreciated!
PS. I believe that I had trouble getting the hard drive partition to be in the correct format last time, the mac installer would not recognize it to format it. But now I have a different HDD, now its a hybrid one so i assume it will be less likely to work?
