Howdy guys, I just finished my first Hack (made computer before though) and figured I would post it all for you here. I won't go in a ton of detail here I just want to show you all what can be done. I'll be linking to TonyMacX86 because there is nothing I can really say that hasn't been covered there.

I had a mostly successful build with a few minor hiccups, and a few that are ongoing but my build is at %90 capacity. Enjoy.

The Parts

Intel i7 4770k [Amazon | NewEgg]

Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-DsH [Amazon | NewEgg]

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) [Amazon | NewEgg]

Gigabyte Windforce GTX 770 2GB SC [Amazon | NewEgg]

2 x SanDisk Extreme II SSDs [Amazon | NewEgg]

1 x Mercury Electra 120GB (Already had this)

Silverstone Tek Strider 750W PSU [Amazon]

Cooler Master Seidon 120M CPU cooler [Amazon | NewEgg]

TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 WiFi card [Amazon | NewEgg]

BitFenix Phenom M [Amazon | NewEgg]

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" (Already had this)

Ok so I didn't take many pictures during the build, always more trouble than it's worth. But the build went on without a hitch; just follow the instructions that come with the hardware and you should be all set (first time builders, just stop, and read the damn motherboard manual first).

Installing OsX

After finishing my build and attempting to boot, I got a boot loop, didn't even get to the bios post. Just power, no power, repeat. After messing around a while I moved my Ram from the recommended slots, to slots 1 and 3. Just so you guys know, the order of the RAM slots goes !->3->2->4 from left to right on the board. I started with them in slots 1 and 2 with no boot success then moved them to slots 1 and 3 so they were next to each other and this yielded a successful boot.

In Bios I set optimized defaults, and I turned off the C1, C3 and C6/C7 energy states as well as disabling Intels on board Graphics and setting Vrin to Extreme.

I then booted to my UniBeast Drive and installed OsX on mt Mercury Electra Drive (Learn how to do that all here)

On the ReBoot I set my MultiBeast settings to this. Ok that's not true, I originally had the FakeSMC plugins running and THAT CAUSED ME HUGE ISSUES.

Once I had a stable build of OsX running, I set my other 2 SSDs in RAID0 using Disk Utility and moved my OS onto that using this guide.

And boom. I was done.

After Thoughts

So all that said I had a few issues, one of the main issues has been incompatible RAM. So please check with your Motherboards manufacturer about the supported RAM DIMMs for your board. If you are using my build, here is GAs recommended RAM list.

Next, Once you have your OS installed and working properly do only one thing at a time. I jumped into the BIOS and was over clocking at 4.7 and 2133 with all sorts of weird shitty settings and boot flags and couldn't figure out why I was crashing or getting Kernel Panics or having full system lockups. So remember, one variable at a time, shit, even right it down on a piece of paper as you go.

EDIT: I forgot, the Nvidia Web Drivers and f6 BIOS for this build are available online and those helped a lot.

And Finally the album, and benchmarks and stuff.

With my Daily specs (4.3Ghz & 1866Mhz)

GeekBench 3.0 - 4078 - 16499

BlackMagic Disk Speed Test Write = 940MB/s Read = 1001MB/s

Unigine Valley Ultra Settings with 8x Anti Aliasing 1920 x 1200 - 36.2 FPS average

Unigine Valley High Settings with 2x Anti Aliasing 1920 x 1200 - 61 FPS average

Cinebench - 851

Cinebench w/ GPU (I'm actually under clocked ATM for some testing reasons)

And a Gallery of other crappy pictures I took just now.

Please feel free to ask me any questions!
