I'm currently awaiting a second hand, purpose built hackintosh I just won on eBay. It currently has a regular HDD installed, and I'm keen to get an SSD in there to speed things up a bit. I've been doing a bit of reading around creating fusion drives, and to be honest it seems like a fairly messy/complicated task. I've got a few remaining questions which maybe someone here could help with?
Anyone who's created a fusion drive on there customac, any advice on how fiddly it actually is?
If I stick with a standard SSD for apps and OS, with a HDD for data, can I place some apps on the HDD of I run out of space? Or does this equally become fiddly?
Finally, how difficult is it to clone the current HDD to any SSD I add? Will a straight up time machine backup/restore allow me to boot from the SSD, or will I need to do more than this?
Thanks in advance!
