Hi all,

I got linked here from a PCMasterRace thread, and I have to say I am now very intrigued! I've looked into creating a Hackintosh laptop before, but as I currently use an iMac as my main machine i'm definitely interested. One of the things that's always annoyed me about Apple machines is the difficulty to upgrade - I have an SSD in my Mac Mini, and it boots in under 10 seconds, but to put one in my iMac i'd have to take the whole screen off!

I've been looking around the tonyx86 site, and have a rough idea of costings etc, but have a few (hopefully) quick questions if someone wouldn't mind answering:

  • Are updates supported from Apple without an issue? Or is it a case of someone tweaking an official version, then releasing it?

    • Is app compatibility an issue?

    • I understand the importance of choosing appropriate graphics cards/cpus, but do HDDs, cases and PSUs really matter? RAM?

Finally, I currently use OS X as my go to OS, and do so many things in it to be honest I really wouldn't want to lose functionality. Is there anyone who uses OS X on a hackintosh as their main OS? If so, what's the experience like? One of the main draws for me is the simplicity, look and feel, and i'd hate to lose that!
