When I try to browse the network from my main computer (Hackintosh) a number of things happen.

Using cabled Ethernet, Wi-Fi disabled:

  1. Most often the RaspberryPI I use for XBMC shows up and nothing else. If I want to see anything on the server (WHS 2011) I have to use "connect to server" which will usually, but not always, bring up the server.

  2. Nothing shows up, using "connect to server" will sometimes fix it, sometimes not.

  3. All devices show up. The WHS, the Pi, the NUC running OpenELEC, the MacBook Pro, the router running TomatoUSB.

Using Wi-Fi, everything works as it should.

The router is the "master browser."

OnBoard Ethernet is Realtek 8111F using the RealtekRTL81xx kext from Multibeast. I have not tried AppleRTL8169Ethernet yet. I didn't realize until just now that it might be a better fit according to this:

"Enables Realtek 81xx Ethernet controllers. Official Realtek driver for 81xx Ethernet controllers."

The MacBook Pro when joined over Wi-Fi sees all devices instantly and even the Hackintosh even though the Hackintosh isn't showing anything else.

The Ethernet cable tests OK with a simple tester but I did not have another handy to rule out a bad network cable. Outside of that anything else I should be looking at?
