I'm sure I'm not the only one who had everything working EXCEPT iMessage. I heard a lot of things that you could do to fix it but none of them ever worked for me. But I tried something different. I called Apple. Instructions:
-Make sure you have FileNVRam 1.1.2 installed. I know there's a 1.1.3 but it doesn't always work. Download it from this link. Navigate to /Extra and delete any previous NVRam Plist files or dylibs, then paste the downloaded one into /Extra/Modules, then restart.
-Try to login. If it works, good. If it doesn't, continue.
-Download Chameleon Wizard from tonymacx86 downloads. You need an account. Open Chameleon Wizard, then navigate to SMBios and click edit. From the bottom-left corner choose a new model number , manufacturing location, and year of manufacture. Mac Pro (3,1) is recommended. Click random for week of manufacture and random for unique number. Save and exit. Restart.
-Try to login. If it works, good. If it doesn't, continue.
-By now the error should be saying that "Your Apple ID "***@ .com" cannot be used to set up iMessage at this time and it should give you some kind of contact code to call Apple support and a link to call support. Copy the link and paste in notes or wherever. Then click the link to take you to Apple's support page. Call the number given for the contact code. follow all the instructions as if it's a real Mac. This paragraph's TL;DR: Just bullshit your way through Apple support and provide all the necessary info(serial number, apple ID, Mac type, etc). By the end you should be told to login again it should work.
Now, you all must be thinking, why/how does this work? I'll explain what I think I know of the process. I read on many other websites that adding a credit card to your Apple ID will "validate" your account because fake accounts don't add credit cards. However, this is not an option for me as I'm not an adult yet. So, if you call Apple support with that code, they will make you sign in to the [Apple ID page](applied.apple.com), generate a service code so that they can help you, and make you answer your own security questions so they know it's you. Then they'll perform the "validation" process I mentioned earlier, thus completing the setup. Afterwards, you can hope to never have iMessage login issues on a hackintosh with that particular Apple ID again. From then on, in new installs of OS X, all you need to do is install FileVRam.dylib and you'll be set. I hope I helped some people today. This community may be small, but it is dare I say, better than the community over at tonymacx86 in terms of replying to a small obscure little post on the sea of the forum.
Happy Hacking!
