I know this isn't a typical Hackintosh post, but I figured you all would have the best info. So my question is, I'm extremely intrigued by the Hackintosh concept for photo/video editing, but can't bring myself to convert my current desktop from AMD to Intel, so I want to try and run Mavericks or Mountain Lion on my Intel i7 laptop to get a feel for the OS before proceeding with the build. I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to run the VM on my AMD desktop, but if I can, that'd be preferable. I've Googled around and seen some videos but they don't seem to be unanimously possible, or there is something that just seems off. So I was wondering if the Hackintosh community would have any info or could point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

Tl;dr

Want to build a Hackintosh, but want to ensure that I like the Mac OS. Trying to find out if possible to run Mavericks or Mountain Lion on a virtual machine before proceeding
