Hey there r/hackintosh.

I'm a professional audio editor that makes a living using my mac. I have also recently been getting some video editorial jobs.

I'm in the market for a new computer and the idea of building a Hackintosh is incredibly appealing to me. I can build a kick ass rig for cheap that will be able to handle the heavy work load I will be throwing at it.

However I'm very wary to take the plunge and build one. It's a rather large investment, and my computer is my career. So failure isn't really an option. A lot if the programs I use have plug ins, and are only approved to run on certain versions of OS X. So a system update can really screw me over. And it seem the system updates can really mess with hackintoshes in general.

I'm worried about how much effort it may take to keep my Hackintosh up and running. I work with some high end clients and can not have my rig go down for an extended period of time.

I am pretty computer savvy, I've built PC's before. But what I'm worried about is how much effort it will be to keep my Hackintosh alive and well. And can it handle running programs like Avid, ProTools, After Effects and more.

So I'm looking to get the opinion of a group of experienced Hackintosh users, do you think a Hackintosh us right for me?

Much thanks in advance everyone.
