Hi everyone! I'm a recent Windows convert (blugh) due to my 08 white macbook being pretty much toast. Luckily, all components still work, but there's some stuff going on making it more or less unusable.
I put this build together a few weeks ago: link!
It's going to be a general use comp, as I'm going back to college after a rocky year off and need a computer. I think it suits my needs great, has plenty of RAM and a fast (to me) CPU--at the most I do very light audio recording, occasional photoshop, etc.
One of the main reasons I'm itching to get back to Mac is the ease of Japanese input/output. That's my major, so I can't have issues with word processing, or worse, the horrible pixellated Kanji I'm getting on W7.
I asked around on the tonyosx86 forums, and the consensus that the mobo I chose wouldn't be compatible and I should upgrade to a cheapish GT 640 or something. No problem! ...except my CPU has HD 4400 graphics, and I apparently should've went for an i3 with HD4600 as that's natively supported. I have a couple of questions, though!
Is there any way to just get my CPU to work through an install, install the 640, disable the integrated graphics, and go fro there? I'm selling some stuff to raise funds, and I don't know if I can afford a new CPU AND GPU, plus it'd be cheaper to just get a new mobo and GPU.
Proposed parts for my Hack, if I have to get a new CPU: here
Possibly a really dumb question, apologies if I come across like an idiot: My HDD from the mac book has 10.7.5, I believe, as well as all my files etc. Is it even possible to mount that HDD in my case and use that as a jumping off point?
If you're still here, thank you so much and sorry for the novel :x but I'd really appreciate any insights into this. Have a great day, and thank you again!
