First of all, I'm using Niresh's 10.9.0 distro with Chameleon bootloader! After my friend telling me about Hackintoshes a week ago, I wanted to make my computer a hackintosh. Fortunately, a LOT of my things in my computer are compatible out of the box; it has similar specs of a MacBook Pro2,1. Upon installing Mavericks, I noticed that my Wifi and resolution weren't working...Thankfully, I had an extra computer and flash drive laying around, so I can transfer downloaded kexts to my wifi-less Hackintosh. Wo-hoo! My wireless card is one of the VERY few that's actually supported! (AR9285) Downloaded the kexts from this thread: http://www.niresh.co/hackintosh-downloads/file/98-atheros-ar9285-io80211familykext/ . Rebooted computer....wifi is working flawlessly. Yay!
Next..the resolution. My resolution was locked at 1024 x 720 (ew!). It reminded me of Safe Mode on Windows. After a few hours of searching, my friend found a working dylib for the Intel HD graphics card I have in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285362-guide-how-to-enable-custom-resolution-for-first-gen-intel-hd-graphics-00428086-and-00468086/page-3 .
Final obstacle.....why is iMessage failing? Did a few minutes of surfing and I found the NVRAM.dylib that fixed it! Apparently, 1.1.3 had issues, so I tried 1.1.2...worked flawlessly! Link to it is here: https://public.xzenue.com/downloads/
I tried updating to 10.9.4, and my audio cut out. After looking and looking for a fix, I couldn't find one. I re-installed Mavericks and am now staying at 10.9.0. I love this thing! It was worth the few hours of research/searching.
From this though, I've learned that ONE typo in terminal can screw your whole system up. I accidentally deleted my extensions folder (oops haha). I had to re-install a total of like 6 times (much stress wow). I'm currently typing this from my Hackintosh! I'm very satisfied! :)
