So, have an OSX86 machine made from old spare parts. Using a custom made DSDT, it runs absolutely great. I only have one problem with it so far, and it's a bit of a headache caused by the GPU and the Nvidia drivers.
It's a Gainward GT730 1024MB, and it works well with 10.9.4 out of the box, only without the Nvidia web drivers, the GPU scaling gets stuck quite high after running something like photoshop or Final Cut: anything that requires a bit of a clock up-scale. With the latest Nvidia web drivers, the scaling works perfectly, except the machine kernel panics when I shutdown, and I have to hold the power button to get it to cycle off.
The question is, which of these two options in your minds is the 'lesser evil'? Is there any consequence to having to do a non-graceful shutdown every time I want to turn the machine off? Or perhaps, is there no consequence to having the GPU never scale itself down?
Ideally, would anyone have any idea what steps I could take to perhaps having the nvidia web drivers NOT KP at shutdown?
