Hey there -
I have a few questions about building my first hackintosh. I'm looking to build a computer that I can use as my main work computer (with OSX) at home and also be able to use for dual booting (with Windows) for gaming. Would appreciate any help you guys can give.
1) I've looked through tonymacx86's guides and have checked out a few beginner youtube videos, but I am not 100% sure how to decide what parts are good v bad. Is there a guide out there on what makes a component "good." For example, what's the difference between 8GB and 16GB of RAM? Or the difference between a 2.1Ghz processor and a 3.5Ghz?
2) If someone is feeling generous - if you could recommend a part list for a ~$800 hackintosh (not including monitor), I would be forever grateful. I've found lists that are a little outdated.
3) What are people's experiences upgrading hackintoshes? Do you have to wait for a while before upgrading (like Jailbreaking) or do all features work pretty seamlessly post-installation.
4) How much time do you spend, post installation, fixing issues? Is it the sort of thing where I couldn't count on my computer working 99% of the time if I didn't do any further upgrades / hardware additions?
Thanks everyone! Really appreciate it :)
