Hi everyone, I thought I'd let you know how I just figured out how to get my BIOS and bootlader to use the native resolution of my iMac. It had always been stuck at a low resolution (stretched) which was mainly annoying for themes in Clover.

I don't usually need the bootloader or the BIOS, so I have my iMac attached to my dedicated graphics. I have my integrated graphics set a Init Display in BIOS, to be able to have integrated graphics as well as dedicated without hardware decoding glitches. But that does mean I need to switch to my motherboard's DisplayPort to even see the boot process.

Anyway, I was looking through the power management settings in the BIOS, and found the RC6 power setting. It's an Intel feature called Render Standby that causes the integrated graphics to use less power during inactivity. I turned it on, and on reboot, Clover showed an unstretched, full resolution boot selector screen. The BIOS now also shows it's pretty high resolution mode.

It's a cosmetic issue, but it's one less in my quest to have everything as vanilla as possible.

My system:

  • Intel Core i5-4670k @ 4GHz

  • Gigabyte GA-Z87MX-D3H

  • MSI GTX 760
