So I am trying to put Yosemite on a PC that I have, but I am running into some issues.
I'm following these instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quky-WIFZG8
I do not own a Mac, however my roommate does, and he let me use it for downloading Yosemite onto a flash drive. His Mac (about 3 years old) wasn't upgraded to Yosemite yet, so we downloaded and installed it. Once it finished it created a file in the applications folder called "OS X Yosemite.appdownload".
When I ran UniBeast it would not let me choose an operating system (all options were grayed out). I did a little research, and for whatever reason, the Yosemite file in applications needed to be renamed to "Install OS X Yosemite.app". Once I renamed the file and changed the extension I was able to select Yosemite from the list of operating systems in UniBeast. But then when I clicked continue I got a message saying that the installer file was incomplete or damaged, and that I should try to remove it and re-download it (this might be because I renamed it and changed the extension).
I removed the file from the applications folder, rebooted, and went to the appstore to re-download the Yosemite installer. I clicked "download" and then the button grayed out. I went to purchases and it showed the Yosemite download and the status was "waiting". After waiting about 20 mins the status never changed, so I rebooted, went to the appstore, went to purchases, and it showed the Yosemite download was 0 out of 5.56 gigs complete. I click resume and it changes to "waiting" again (download button still grayed out).
I went thought a series of waiting for about 5 - 10 mins then rebooting and trying again, no luck. There is nothing in the applications folder yet. The status is still "waiting" and its been sitting for about an hour, the mac has a networked connection and the internet works just fine, other apps download fine, but for some reason Yosemite will not download.
Any ideas on what I should try or where to go from here?
