Hello r/hackintosh,
I've just been offered the opportunity of developing a iPhone app by a friend. Sadly i do not own an Apple nor do i afford one. At the moment i own an Acer v3 771 g1. I have two HDD installed, one with Windows 7 and the other for storage. Sadly i don't feel like either will make a good place for a new partition/installation of a hackintosh.
I have never installed/owned a hackintosh and i have no idea how to do it, but before posting this i did some research (mostly on tonymac). And i did come across some posts of successful installations on similar laptops, so that gives me hope that it can be done. I saw that there could be problems with the wi-fi driver/ethernet cable/ ivy bridge processor, but i guess i'll try and sort them out when i get to them. If anyone knows any information regarding this it would be greatly appreciated (what commands to type in verbos, where to get the drivers from, if i need to buy a new wi-fi etc.). Anyway my main problem is where to install the new operating system, and if 2 operating systems on the same machine is a good idea. I have some spare cash that i was thinking of using to buy a new external HDD(since my laptop doesn't have any more HDD slots), but i don't know if that is a good idea, was hoping you guys could clarify this. If yes, then what would you recommend for an external HDD on which i could install Mavericks/Yosemite without any fear of losing my data.
